Brandon Heritage Week – Friday 11th to Sunday 20th September

Members of the History Society have been planning and preparing events to showcase the history of the town during this week.

There are THREE CATEGORIES of events on offer: –

  1. HERITAGE TRAILS – Guided River & Town Walks & Activities set to run throughout the week (created & guided by Imogen Radford (OSBrecks) with help from BDLHS members)

      Saturday 12th September: 10.00AM  Historic Town & River Walk (morning walk)

      Saturday 12th September:   1.30PM   Historic Town & River Walk (afternoon walk)

      Monday 14th September:  9.30AM Brandon’s Town Street – History & Wellbeing Walk

      Tuesday 15th September:  10.00AM Brandon’s Industries – History Walk

      Friday 18th September:     10.30AM Brandon’s Gasworks, Old Industries & Pubs – History Walk

      Sunday 20th September:   1.30PM Brandon’s River History – History Walk, Teas, Exhibition & more

      These guided walks are presented on behalf of Brandon Town Council by OSBrecks with support from the Brecks Landscape Partnership.

  1. A SPECIAL THEMED WALK – “The Night Brandon Roared” (created & presented by Darren Norton)

      Thursday 17th September:  10.00AM A Guided Walk with Historical Characters recreating the 1919 riot on HIGH STREET

      Sunday 20th September:    10.00AM ~ as above ~

      Thursday 8th September:    7.30PM  A presentation to Brandon & District Local History Society on the same theme

                                         Guests are welcome to attend for a cost of £5

      

  1. A BRANDON HISTORY EXHIBITION – “Trades, People & Heritage” (created by Mike Willett with help from BDLHS members)

      This exhibition will be hosted in the Council Chamber, Brandon Town Council Offices on Market Hill, Brandon.

      It will operate on the following dates & times: –

      Saturday 12th September:    10.00AM until 3PM

      Sunday 13th September:        10.00AM until 3PM

      Monday 14th September:        10.00AM until 2PM

      Wednesday 16th September:  10.00AM until 2PM

      Thursday 17th September:      10.00AM until 2PM (on this day – outside stall ONLY on Market Hill during Market Day)

      Friday 18th September:           10.00AM until 2PM

      Saturday 19th September:       10.00AM until 3PM

      Sunday 20th September:         10.00AM until 3PM

      note: entry to the exhibition is FREE for everyone. Donations from the public will be encouraged to help fund this event.

      We are grateful to Brandon Town Council who have donated £250 towards the cost of display boards.
