Stephen John Rowbury

Stephen was born in 1870 in Dagenham, Essex. Son of Stephen William Rowbury and Mary Ann, Nee Turner

In 1891 he was a railway clerk lodging in Osborn Villas, Enfield

He married Lydia Jane Lawrence in the third quarter of 1893 in Edmonton,

In 1901 he was a railway booking clerk living with Lydia Jane and their two sons in Balham road, Edmonton with Lydia’s widowed father Edward – a retired barge skipper.

The 1911 census shows that he was a railway clerk, living at 30 Millbrook Road, Edmonton With Lydia Jane and their two sons.

In 1914 he was the Stationmaster at Braughing, Hertfordshire

Census of June 1921 records that he is Stationmaster at Brundall, living in the Station house with his wife, Lydian (sic) Jane (50, born Sawbridgeworth, Herts) and sons Lawrence John (23) and Stepehen John (20).

Appointed as stationmaster for Brandon in November 1923.

His son, a railway clerk, married Gladys Mary Mortimer, of Brundall at the parish church, Bradstone on 3rd Jan 1927 – announced in the Lynn Advertiser of 14 Jan 1927

According to the Lynn Advertiser, he introduced Druidism to Brandon and founder Flint Lodge (665), which in 1928 had a membership of 112. He was a trustee for the Provincial Grand Lodge of East Anglia.

He was promoted to be Stationmaster of Wymondham, Hethersett and Ashwellthorpe in August 1928

Stephen died on 21st May 1941, when he was living at the Station House in East Winch.
