Trevett Read Nash

Trevett was born in Norwich on Christmas Eve 1862 to Robert Smith Nash, a publican, and his wife Hannah. Trevett and his younger sister Alice were baptised at St Mark Lakenham, Norwich on 2nd August 1864.

On the census return for 3rd April 1881 Trevett is recorded as a clerk for the Great Eastern Railway. He was living in Lowestoft with his widowed mother and four younger sisters, Agnes (aged 15), Ida (11), Annie (9) and Jessie (6).

The Thetford & Watton Times of 29th March 1890 reported the marriage at St George’s Colegate, Norwich on the 25th of Trevett to Clara Margaret Storey. In the church register Trevett’s occupation is given as station master.

The census of 5th April 1891 shows Trevett and Clara living at East Winch. Trevett’s occupation is station master. He is listed on the electoral register for East Winch and Pentney until 1897.

In March 1901, Trevett and Clara are recorded as living at the GER station of Reepham, where Trevett is the stationmaster. They are accompanied by their 8 year old son, Trevett jnr.

In January 1911 Trevett was appointed station-master at Brandon. This is confirmed by the census return of 2nd April that shows the family living at the station. Trevett Read junior was employed as an insurance clerk.

By the time of the census in June 1921, junior had left home, so just Trevett and Clara were living in the station house

In November 1923 Stephen John Rowbury was appointed station-master at Brandon

Trevett died in the second quarter of 1946 in Norwich, at the age of 83.
